Currently Listening
Mahler: Symphony No. 3
see related

It has occurred to me through several sources that it is time to update the old xanga.  We will see if I can make a habit of posting more often or if once again I will fall into the comfortable pattern of simply reading the things that other people post.  Since April 19th I have basically been playing trumpet, running, or working on becoming totally sweet. And to tell you the truth I am enjoying how things are going.

As far as the near future goes I will be going on tour with the wind symphony to the twin cites area and later on in the semester I will be playing Mahler 3 with the symphony orchestra.  This upcoming weekend is Colts camp and I can’t wait to see the horn line again.  Well I think that’s all for now and who knows when I will update this thing again.

well I am in am updating kind of mood.  Things here in Eau Claire are pretty awesome.  Its finally warm and things are starting to grow again.  This morning my roommate Nims and I played trumpet outside.  The last few months since my last update have been pretty college to say the least.  Last weekend I played many a set of waltzes in orchestra for v-ball (prom for old people that includes a polka room and lots of drunk people).  twords the end of it on saturday night Cavis and I were just calling people on our cell phones and playing for them if you got a call consider yourself lucky.

Yesterday I learned all of the muscles in the lower body for my kinesiology minor, its pretty sweet I now know where the rectus femoris is so I am pretty happy about that.  Then went on an 8 mile jog ( and I think I might have caught a little sun along the way but its all good )  before grilling with Pat, Nims, Becker and Brad.

I hope that the Colts have a great camp weekend I unfortunately will not be able to attend due to an Orchestra concert.  We are playing Stravinsky's Petrushka witch is an absolutely mind blowing work if you have not heard it before get to it.

check out this totaly sweet new site for the UWEC marching band   www.blugoldmarchingband.com  I write the drill so check out my handy work

I also changed my profile picture, so there you go.

I guess it has been some time since my last update.  Things are going pretty awesome over here in the Eau C.  The new semester started last week and I have started my new minor of Kinesiology (gym) to go along with the music major.  So I am now officially a band jock.  Auditions for ensembles turned out alright I will be sitting principle trumpet in the Symphony band and third chair in Orchestra.  It looks like we will be playing Petrouchka in orchestra so that will just be a gas.  What else is new... not a lot.

The Winds of Change

It has truly been a while since I have updated this thing. a lot has been going on since halloween. Last weekend I went to go play for a Hastings education Gala. they brought in a bunch of folks that had graduated and we put on a talent show of sorts. I was involved in the jazz band portion of the evening. It was so incredably cool, They brought back most of the band from my Junior and Senoir years (the hay day of Hastings jazz) Who ever was organizing this Gala decided to fly in band members from all over the country as hastings graduates tend to spread from coast to coast. You have no idea how much fun it was to play with those guys again. especialy since most of us are now music majors. The band was a great and working with my High school band director is always a real treat.

This week has been really great. Mr. Frank Battisti ( Band director at the New England Conservarory) has been working with the wind ensemble for the past 3 days in preporation for a concert in wich he will conduct us on sunday. Mr. battisti is truly an amazing educator that knows exactly what to do and how to say it in order to bring everyone around him to a higher performance level. Should be a great concert come Sunday.

On Monday I will be giving my trumpet recital. If anyone is in the eau Claire area you should stop by the recital hall around 5:00. I will be performing a Herbert Clarke solo, and the Jean Hubeau trumpet sonate.

Then after that I can look foward to an 8k race on thanksgiving morning. It gonna be great Gobblegait 2004 here I come.

Once that race is over I can finaly put all thoughts on Colts Banquet insted of just some of them. I can not wait to see Colts people again.

Its also a small world. The other night I was going out for dessert with my trumpet teacher Mr. Baca and a few other guys. some how the topic of drum corps was brought up and we got to alking about the star of Indiana. Apperently Mr. Baca used to teach Bill Cooks son trumpet lessons and on one occasion he got to fly in Bill Cooks private jet to go wach a drum corps regional. wierd.
